A Boat a Day (no.192)

Spent the afternoon with my nieces playing with clay, monkey jenga and dancing. They didn't know Taz and I were visiting so it was a nice surprise for them, and I was pleasantly surprised to see them both wearing the Monster Hoods I made them for Halloween.

After Phoebe (the youngest) demonstrated her potters wheel with some gusto I had a go and eventually made this little thing,

A Boat a Day (no.191)

Back in the shire again today visiting my family for a long weekend. As always my mum's house is full of inspiration, I hadn't been here long before I spied some glass paint and mum happily provided a pretty glass jar for me to decorate. I had a lot of fun :)

A Boat a Day (no.190)

Today has been a day of hairdressing, not my usual job I know but one I am called upon for every now and again. The request today was pretty exciting, my friend wanted to look like this! Originally the agreement was that I would shave a boat into his hair before I shaved it all the off, but it wasn't really viable, and I didn't want to ruin it before I even started. So instead, on the suggestion of Claire Byard I sculpted it into a boat, here is the result :)

A Boat a Day (no.189)

Good Evening,

I went to the Arnolfini today to do another room check for the Easter Market, there was a small part of my brain that was convinced I had exaggerated the size of it, but it's actually bigger! I'm so close to being organised for my biggest market yet, it's exciting but exhausting. While I was on my adventure today I saw a new ship in the harbour. (it feels weird that I know it's new.)

A Boat a Day (no.188)

I have had a lovely treat this evening, thanks to Tam who cooked us all dinner (which was ready when I got home from work) and spent the day giving everyone their Christmas massages. I'm feeling very relaxed and comfortable right now after some intense work on my left shoulder, and also a bit floaty-like. If you are a Bristolian then I recommend you check out Meridian Massage, even if you think you don't need a massage, you do!
In an attempt to keep the good energies flowing I made today's boat from an apple.

A Boat a Day (no.187)

Today I worked to one of Noah Scalin's briefs keeping it simple with paper and using no scissors, glue or any other tool. I've already done some proper origami a while back but this is just that age old art of folding your receipts into random shapes.  :)

A Boat a Day (no.186)

Today's boat is more about the globe, which is one of those cheapy plastic ones all kids should own. I decided to give it a bit of a makeover, starting with lots of brown and sepia tones. I will have to do something about the stand another time. the ship was drawn with black and silver marker pen, however I decided after I had done it to spray the whole globe in fixative to make sure the paint didn't run. It didn't, but the marker pen did :(
I will be using this as display on my stall, but I think if I find anymore kids globes, especially if they look a bit sad I will be repainting them!
