Celtic knotwork is so satisfying to draw, especially if you take the time to use a ruler and make guides to start. I think the highlights and shadows definitely make it. I spent a couple of days practicing different patterns a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but I wasn't quite as patient as I am now. I drew this initially as a design to copy onto an old table which I'll be up-cycling in the near future.
